Lapel Community Service Program

The Lapel Community Service Program, also known as Killer's Kids was started several years ago by Bob "Killer" Kowalski as a way to help re-educate troubled youths and adults and give them a second chance.

The Community Service Program is a huge asset to the Town of Lapel. Most weekends Killer and his assistants have up to 10 teens or adults participating in the program.

The LCSP assists the Town of Lapel in the following ways:

  • Collecting Trash from
    • Town streets
    • Cemetery
    • Parks
  • Removing Brush
  • Limb Pickup for residents unable to take their limbs to the new Limb Drop-Off point on Vine St
  • Snow Removal on Sidewalks and Driveways
  • Moving and/or Lifting Heavy Items to help organizations and individuals
  • Car Washing - Town Police and Local Law Enforcement Vehicles
  • Special Projects
  • Painting Road Markings
Many times the LCSP has managed to assist the Town in expensive tasks such as Concrete Sidewalk Laying by using skilled laborers and tradesmen that are now currently enrolled in the program.

There is no doubt that the LCSP saves the Town of Lapel hundreds of man hours of work per week and provides an essential service to the entire Town.

GOALS

  1. TO PROVIDE PEOPLE THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPLETE THEIR COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTMENT IN A TIMELY MANNER.
  2. ENHANCE THE CLEANLINESS, SAFETY AND QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE RESIDENTS OF LAPEL.
