Lapel’s Community Band kicks off the 2013 concert season with their fifth annual benefit concert for the Lapel Community Food Pantry on Sunday, March 10 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lapel High School auditorium. The program features a variety of musical styles including highlights from Les Miserables and a Fugue on Yankee Doodle.
Price of admission is three non-perishable food items (or $2.00 donation) at the door at the time of the concert. Suggested food items include peanut butter, canned meats and fish or beans; cereal, pasta or rice is also needed. Canned fruit is always welcomed. All proceeds benefit the Lapel Community Food Pantry operated by the churches of Lapel and Perkinsville Community Church.
The band, celebrating its 13th anniversary, plans a concert that will ‘surely be a feast for the ears,’ said John Parshall, Director. He continued, ‘we pray the food and money donations generated by the concert will prove to be a feast for our hungry friends and neighbors.’
