Doug Anderson and his band made up of local friends and family performed an impromptu concert at Ford Street United Methodist Church on Sunday 6th January.
This event had been advertised on Facebook with 31 people confirmed as attending. Clay Parkison had prepared for much more than this by setting up over 200 chairs at the Ford St Church.
When I arrived the Church was already packed by an excited audience and Parkison ended up forming several make-shift lines of chairs to allow the latest additions to the crowd some place to sit.
Unless this event had been heralded as standing room only I doubt there was any way that more people could have attended.
After a brief introduction by Parkison, followed by a prayer from Pastor Steve, it was time for Doug to enter and he received a warm round of applause from all those in attendance.
Doug immediately started singing a song about Lapel, his friends and family which he referred to as "Home" and the night was set.
At the Village Fair Concert 2012 and again at the event last night you can tell Doug loves Lapel and the residents of Lapel love him back.
After talking about his motivation for the event and how he likes nothing more than to hang with friends and family you could easily see just how much it all means to him.
Today his band was made up of his friends, family and local musicians with varying backgrounds and talents, including some local teens showing that it doesnt matter how old you are to do what you love.
Those who attended were in for a great night of music and if everything falls into place Doug will be holding another concert in Lapel at the Village Fair later this year.
