The October 1st deadline to hear back from Owens - Illinois about the use of the corner lot on the North Side of Town as a base for the new Fire House is fast approaching with no answer yet provided.
The ongoing process of choosing a new home for the Fire House looks set to continue, so far Owens Illinois have not given the Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory a definitive answer on whether they can purchase or use the corner lot on the edge of the Brockway Plant as the site of the new Fire House.
Over the past 18 months several sites have been talked about with the most favorable being the lot at Brockway. Earlier this year a deadline of October 1st was set to hear back from O-I over the use of the land.
So far no answer has been forthcoming although when representatives from Lapel and the Fire Territory met with Owens Illinois executives they did seem interested in the idea.
We hope that Owens Illinois gets back to the Fire Territory before the deadline with a favorable answer and the Fire House project will finally have some good news to act as a strong foundation for the future.
