Lapel High School Students Witness Mock Accident

LAPEL, IN - Several Hundred Lapel High School students got to witness a mock accident at the Lapel Fire Department this afternoon that should have them thinking twice about drinking and driving.

The mock event played out exactly as a real scenario would with two cars and multiple people involved in a vehicle accident, a call to emergency services, a brief wait for first responders and then controlled chaos as ambulances and fire vehicles arrived on scene.

The Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory members extricated two patients from one of the vehicles, one mock victim was sadly dead at the scene. One mock victim was taken by ambulance to hospital and another taken by lifeline.

While the injuries were not real and all those involved made a full and quick recovery (even the corpse) the message from the event was very real.

DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE

At the very least doing so will put your own life in jeopardy as well as any passengers you may have, and any other motorists you may come across on the road.

One reckless decision could completely change your life, and destroy not only your own family but many other families too.

The event featured the Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory, Lapel Police Department, Madison County EMA, Madison County Sheriff's Department and many other people.
