Lapel’s Community Band kicks off the 2017 concert season with a benefit concert for Reach Student Ministries on Sunday, March 19th at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Life Center located at the intersection of State Roads 13 and 38 near Pendleton. Tunes and Treats is a dessert concert. All desserts are being prepared by A Slice of Heaven Cakery, Lapel. The program’s featured vocalist is Kay Barnum. The program includes a variety of musical styles including popular, big band and sacred music.
A variety of cakes and cookies prepared by Slice of Heaven Cakery will be served following the program. A free-will offering will be taken during the concert. All proceeds benefit Reach Student Ministries of Lapel.
Reach Student Ministries exist to see students REACH UP and seek God through relevant Bible teaching, fellowship, and service. Students experience ways to “Be Jesus and Step Out as they REACH OUT to their community”. Sponsored by Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapel, Reach students will attend various camps, retreats, mission weeks, and age appropriate conferences throughout the year.
The band, formed in the year 2000, plans a concert that “we think will be a tasty way to help Reach Student Ministries. Come out for the music, stay for the desserts and help us raise money for a great cause”, said Brian L. Swart, Director. He added, “we look forward to generating money to help Reach Student Ministries achieve their goals. The band and I believe it’s important to support the youth of the Lapel community.”
