Progress at the New Park

LAPEL, IN - Last month the Lapel Parks Department accepted a bid from Kinetic Recreation to install a $10,500 playground at the new Ball Park on the West side of Town.

During the Park Meeting last night at Town Hall the Park Board also announced they had chosen local fencing company Mr Fence and their bid of $25,000 to install fencing at the same park.

The Park Department has been told by DNR that if grass seed is not planted this year they will understand. DNR is in charge of the $200,000 in funds that the Town receives for completing the new park and had previously set a deadline of 2016 to finish the park to ensure they received all of the funding but now it seems they are at least a little flexible on the deadline for certain things.

While it might look like very little has happened at the new park these last few months it seems things are gearing up for a very busy final few months of the year with a lot of work to be completed.

The Parks Department is still looking for help from a Mason and I am sure they would also appreciate any additional help from residents, business or organizations that wish to donate time, skills or money to help complete this project.
