How much impact could your organization make with a $10,000 grant?

LAPEL, IN - Open Hearts, Open Purses is the Women’s Giving Circle initiative of the South Madison Community Foundation, a local organization focused on creating positive change and lasting impact in the communities we serve.

The mission of Open Hearts, Open Purses is to provide financial resources to organizations for projects that improve the lives of individuals and families in our communities. Since 2010, Open Hearts, Open Purses has awarded nearly $80,000.

Open Hearts, Open Purses will again award a $10,000 grant to a local nonprofit organization for a project designed specifically to benefit the residents of Adams, Fall Creek, Green, and/or Stony Creek Townships of Madison County, Indiana.  The grant will be awarded at a special presentation on the evening of June 9, 2016.

Eligibility and Award Criteria

Only 501(c)3, tax-supported, or educational organizations are eligible to submit a request for funding. However, other entities--private, for profit, faith-based, grassroots community organizations, service clubs, and similar--may partner with one or more eligible organizations to propose collaborative programs. For such programs, the eligible organization will act as fiscal agent for any funds awarded to the work of the collaborative project. While your organization does not need to be physically located in these townships, the proposed project(s) MUST benefit individuals and families living in the Madison County townships of Adams, Fall Creek, Green and/or Stony Creek.

Funding requests to SMCF should be directed to one of the following focus areas: Arts/Culture, Education, Community Development, Environment, or Human Services.

Eligibility for Application

If you did not apply in 2015, organization representatives (2 persons maximum, please) MUST attend an informational meeting prior to submission. Under no circumstances will applications be accepted without attendance. The informational meetings for the 2016 award will be held at a mutually convenient time at the South Madison Community Foundation office.  Returning applicants are welcome to participate in advisory conversations prior to submission.
