LAPEL, IN - Lapel’s Community Band kicks off the 2016 concert season with a benefit concert for the Trinity United Methodist Church Youth Ministry on Sunday, March 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Life Center located at the intersection of State Roads 13 and 38 near Pendleton.
“Sweet Notes, Sweet Treats” is a dessert concert. All desserts are being prepared by A Slice of Heaven Cakery, Lapel. The program’s featured vocalist is Kay Barnum. The program includes a variety of musical styles including blues, jazz and sacred music.
Tickets are $5 for the dessert concert and are available from band members and at the door at the time of the concert. Price of admission includes the concert and desserts following the program. The concert is free to children ages 5 and under. Non-perishable food items are also welcome. These will be provided to the Lapel Community Food Pantry operated by the churches of Lapel and Perkinsville Community Church.
Several Trinity Youth who are also musicians will be performing with the band. They are: Hannah Chinn, flute; Cole Luker, trumpet; Torsten Wood, tuba; and Alexis Taylor, flute.
The band, celebrating its 16th anniversary, plans a concert that “we think will be a tasty way to help the Trinity Youth. Come out for the music, stay for the desserts and help us raise money for a great cause”, said Brian L. Swart, Director. He added, “we look forward to generating money for the Trinity Youth program and food donations to help our hungry friends and neighbors. The band and I believe it’s important to support the community.”
