Lapel Fire Department Hoping to Purchase Replacement Tanker

LAPEL, IN - The Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory discussed plans to purchase a used 2001 Freightliner FL70 Tanker from a local Fire Department at a cost of $65,000 during the most recent Fire Board meeting on Monday 16th June.

The 2001 tanker is believed to be in excellent condition "looks like new" with around 7,000 miles on the clock.

If approved the Fire Territory will need to pay 10% ($6,500) up front and then the remainder in January when delivery can be taken.

This 2001 tanker would be purchased to replace Tanker 76 - 1988 GMC TopKick/1989 Monroe Truck  (the oldest piece of apparatus in the Lapel Fleet).

In semi-related news the Town Council and the Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory will liaise on establishing a bi-annual hydrant flushing schedule to ensure the fire hydrants in Lapel are in excellent working condition.
