ELWOOD, IN - Two bands from Lapel Middle School traveled to Elwood High School Saturday March 15th to participate in the Indiana State School Music Association Organization Contest.
Director, Greg Scott directed the Sixth Grade Band in their first time ever appearance at this contest, and they were awarded a Silver Rating for their efforts. This band performed “Fanfare and March”, Aztec Sunrise”, and “Conquest”. The students did a very good job on their first contest.
The second band, made up of grades 7 & 8 performed before the judges as well. This group was awarded a Gold rating for their performance. They performed “Activity March”, “The Water Is Wide”, and “Imperium”. In all, there were 80 Lapel Middle School students performing on the Elwood auditorium stage Saturday morning.
Mr. Scott was pleased with his students’ performances, and he was also pleased with the turnout of the parents and friends from Lapel who came to listen and watch these fine young musicians perform. Mr. Scott would like to also thank those parents who took their time to chaperone the groups before and after their performance.
